18 Aug BBCO Smoothie
An ice cold smoothie can taste good and provide excellent nutritional benefits. This one is wonderful. It has a banana, blueberries, cherries, and an orange––the BBCO! I eat a lot of blueberries, not only because they taste good, but they provide extremely useful nutrients for eye health. You can combine blueberry consumption with the herb Eyebright and a few eye exercises can ward off problems. For instance, my vision has hardly changed in the past 10 years. As a matter of fact, during a visit to the optometrist a few months ago, he told me that my vision had actually improved. That was great news! Along with the blueberries, cherries provide vitamins A, C, E, and folate. The orange has vitamins A, some essential Bs (B1-thiamine, B2-riboflavin, B3-niacin, B5-panthotenic acid, B9-folate ), C, and E. The banana has essentially the same B vitamins, as well as A, E, and K.
While fresh fruit has the best nutrients, I do use frozen fruit. I try to get organic versions of both if at all possible. In this smoothie, I use:
1 banana (frozen ones work well)
1/4 cup of blueberries
Clean water (I use 1 to 1.5 cups. It all depends on the desire consistency)
